Born in Milan, he graduated magna cum laude in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, also attending specializing courses at New York University.

He began his career in London at Goldman Sachs International, where, from 1990 to 1995, he developed expertise in Corporate Finance and subsequently in Debt Capital Markets, with responsibility for bond issuances for Italian clients. From 1995 to 2006, he continued his career between Milan and London at Barclays de Zoete Wedd (acquired in 1997 by Credit Suisse First Boston), holding positions of increasing responsibility in M&A and Equity Capital Markets for the Italian and Southern European markets, and later in client relationship management. At Credit Suisse First Boston, he also held managerial roles, including Chief Operating Officer and legal representative of the Italian branch.

After a period as an independent advisor to leading industrial groups, he joined EQUITA in 2008 as Head of the Investment Banking division. From 2017 to 2026, he served as Chief Executive Officer of EQUITA Group and EQUITA SIM, and he currently holds the position of Chairman of the Group, as well as Chairman and co-founder of Fondazione EQUITA, the non-profit organization dedicated to promoting social, cultural and financial education initiatives. He is also Chairman of Blue Earth Therapeutics Ltd, a radiopharmaceutical company based in Oxford (United Kingdom).

He has over thirty years of experience in capital markets and investment banking, actively contributing to the development of the Italian financial market, also through institutional and academic initiatives. He is Vice-Chairman of AMF Italia (Associazione Intermediari Mercati Finanziari), a member of the CONSOB stakeholder group (COMI), and a member of the advisory board of Borsa Italiana. He has also contributed to regulatory discussions within the Technical Expert Stakeholder Group (TESG) established by the European Commission to promote the development of capital markets for small and medium-sized enterprises.
