Equita assisted CDP Equity with its investment in the share capital of Euronext

 

Equita supporting CDP Equity

Milan, 29 April 2021 – CDP Equity – a company wholly owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti – acquired an equity stake in Euronext and gave his green light to acquire Borsa Italiana and create a leading player in the European capital markets.

More in details, CDP Equity acquired a 7.3% stake in Euronext by investing €491 million in a reserved increase in share capital. Following the equity investment, CDP Equity became the largest shareholder of Euronext, equalling the stake owned by its French counterpart, the Caisse des Depots et Consignations (CDC).

Equita assisted CDP Equity issuing its fairness opinion on the investment with a team led by Carlo Andrea Volpe, Co-Head Investment Banking, and formed by Edoardo Achilli, Stefano Pinsino and Marco Razzoli.

Following the transaction, Borsa Italiana will become more competitive in the European capital markets’ framework and this will benefit the financing of enterprises, especially SMEs. Including the newly acquired Borsa Italiana, as a results Euronext will manage 7 regulated exchanges in Europe (Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal) with over 1,800 listed companies and a total market capitalisation of €5,100 billion.
