“Le Signore dell’Arte” at Palazzo Reale is an exhibition drawing the viewers’ attention to the works of 34 forgotten or little-known artists. Charming, curious, and determined women painters, celebrated by the most prestigious patrons and whose work testifies their struggle to affirm their role in the history of art. Lavinia Fontana, Fede Galizia, Sofonisba Anguissola, Elisabetta Sirani and the famous Artemisia Gentileschi, reveal their outstanding artistic mastery making an entrance in the “I talenti delle donne” programme promoted by the Department of Cultural Activities of the City of Milan.

Moving on to more contemporary expressions, the exhibition entitled “Divine e Avanguardie” also at Palazzo Reale, presents a variety of art styles and subjects shedding light on the role of women in the framework of Russian culture and society with a selection of icons, Soviet Union artworks, and contemporary creations.

Giambattista Tiepolo, the extraordinary Venetian painter, is back in town: in the rooms of Gallerie d’Italia we can admire this genius’ studies whose work defined 18th-century painting. Impalpable clouds and hefty bodies depicted with elegantly fluent brushwork make their magnificent appearance in great teleri and small sketches with scenes of ancient mythology or important biblical episodes. Both inspiring and inspired, Tiepolo’s work is also explored through the creations of other painters of his day, such as Canaletto and Bellotto whose works never cease to palpably evoke the magical atmospheres of Venice.
